Pas de chat, Jeté & Pirouette

So this may sound a little silly random, but I was just browsing the internet today (quiet day at work, standard), & something somewhere mentioned dance classes.
Now, I'm not sure how I got from there to here, but I've come to the decision that I'd really like to attend ballet classes!
The most-basic-simple-for-un-coordinated-people-ever-type of class, mind you.

I haven't done ballet since I was...oo, about 3 maybe? But I do remember it being super fun!
And now I'm doing pilates more frequently (& loving it by the way - guess who can touch their toes now?!), I figure this would be a fun thing to do after work one day a week, while getting more flexible, working on balance & posture & learning a new skill!

Plus who doesn't love a bit of a dance (and the excuse to dress like a ballerina)?

A couple of links to cool-sounding taster classes & courses I've found so far:

Now to find one of my friends who could be persuaded to come with me...

Birthday week!

Currently loving Birthday Week (yes, that's a real thing)! It was my birthday last Tuesday, but I'd been doing super fun things for the whole week surrounding it. It's just been a really lovely way of seeing friends & family (& a whole lotta food).

It started with a trip to the children's zoo with my mum, brother & Adam
A pile of meerkats! Too cute.

 Adam inside a giraffe...

The the next day was tea at the Grand Hotel, followed a couple of days later with this b.e.a.uuutiful cake (one of two! Spoiled)

And then the aquarium
Jellies

Standing on sharks (sorta)!

And thennnn a lovely dinner date with Lyzz at Jamie's - totally yum! All the sorts of food your parents would make for you, but you wouldn't bother to make yourself (well, I probably wouldn't!)

Then the next day, it was time for Chilli Con Carnival!
Tequila, 5 types of chilli, pinatas, coronas, sombreros, marachai music & laughs :)

And then to finish the week, we went to watch the Olympics in Hyde park! It was so much fun to watch Murray win gold along with a crowd of hundreds. Totally feels like a festival, but free & super fun!

Oh, we also went to Cadbury world...

And had ice creams.
Perfect.

Around the world

Most of the long weekend was spent at HW's hen-do (which is a post all in itself, probably tomorrow...), but on the Monday the other half took me to see all of the eggs from The Big Egg Hunt all grouped together at Covent Garden!
We'd spotted a couple around the city, but it was amazing seeing them all together, 'in the flesh'.

So I didn't take pictures of all 100 of them, but couldn't resist snapping a few of my faves...

The frog & lizard looked weirdly life-like!

Loved the colours on this one

Can't help but imagine this egg in a stately home...or at a wedding.

LOVE the little bird sitting atop this egg! So cute.

Slightly unrelated, but the last egg reminds me of how I'd love a massive old-looking map like that on my wall.

Also sort of related, saw a great crafty-thing on pintrest that would make a really cute present...but on the off chance Adam's reading this, I'll save my idea for that for a couple more months!

Boat tour!

A little while ago on Groupon they had a deal for two tickets for a bus/boat tour around London.

I personally love doing touristy things in the city I live in (being able to dazzle others with fun facts afterwards is an added bonus). You see so much you didn't know was there, & I reckon you really appreciate the bits you've been to/seen already.
Plus I have a New Zealander to entertain & it was 50% off...

So these are a few (out of the hundreds we took!) photos that give a rough idea of how awesome it is to see London by boat!

Big Ben & the Houses of Parliament (although *technically* the bell is the part called Big Ben and the tower is called St Stephen's Tower).

The lovely 'un-official' tour guide on the boat, providing probably the best commentary I've heard on any kind of tour (not that I've been on loads...but still).

The Shard (looking nearly finished! Exciting).

A 'School' of canoeists!

A general river-shot, complete with St. Pauls Cathedral!

A fun weather vein somewhere along the Thames.

The London Eye.

County Hall (right beside the Eye, and home to the London Aquarium).

A shot of the "Wibbly Wobbly Bridge".

And a cheeky shot of Ben with the moon & a star to finish.

I'd highly recommend the boat tour - a hop-on-hop-off day ticket costs around £13, and is so much fun! Or the tickets that we got included the bus tour too, and are valid for 24 hours. Bargin-a-lisious!

My nails this week:

In honour of V-day, along with these:

Lurrrvely!

In other news, had a 'Boner Night' The official term right there - like a date night, but with more excitement! (Was going to explain that it's a standard female boner thing, but then read the description & it's not quiiiite what I mean...) with the BFF, during which we discovered possibly the best toilets in the world & remembered just how much we love living in London <3

Now just waiting for payday to roll around before we go somewhere else & do it all over again!

Any suggestions for places to go in central welcomed - but in general we're pretty up for the whole getting-lost-and-loving-it thing :)

As for now, I'm just gonna sit back & watch the #LFW tweets roll in!

Limited facial expressions

Yesterday Sj & I went shopping at Westfields to find her a party dress for her birthday next week! Exciting stuff.

But before we got down to the serious business of selecting outfits & shizzle, Sj took me over the road to the smaller, tackier shopping center to show me the most UHmazing thing ever - one of the photo booths that takes a strip of different pictures & gives you two copies!

After the first set, we were hooked (& proceeded to go into the Poundland opposite for props)...

And then took a few more, just in case...

BIG love for this - we're already planning our next trip ♥
