Just

A quick one...

Saw a friend had posted a quote online, apparently from a channel 4 documentary or something, & I really...not like it as such, but I think it's a good way of summing things like that up;

Grief is love's unwillingness to let go.

Another little plug...

So the boy has told me to blog about the fact that he's just finished producing the second album he's done - it's called Soundtrack to Reality by The Widowmaker.

  If you're interested, you can have a listen to the album sampler here. It's pretty good!

  In other news...
Ended up getting the mother a cute purse from Accessorize - black, with an almost tweedy effect...kinda reminded me of the Chanel 2.5;

I also found a really cute bird bath on ebay, so got that for her too! However, it seems that once you're on ebay, it's very difficult to get off! So far, I've got about 15 items in the 'watching items' section of my ebay - pretty much a mixture of cute boots - can't decide if I want some more flat ones, or maybe a small heel, 'cause there seem to be a lot around at the moment, & a heel always jazzes up an outfit...decisions!

Flat?

Okay, scratch that, I want these!

Definitely going shopping on Wednesday!

Scarlett Johansson Designs For Haiti

 "The actress has switched from being the face of Mango to designing.

 A special-edition handbag, retailing for about $30 and featuring Johansson’s signature, will sell in nearly 1,400 Mango stores worldwide - with all profits set apart for victims of the Haiti earthquake. Oxfam will use the money for lifesaving measures such as water purification.
 Johansson’s tote will hit Mango stores in March."

Looks lovely!

Elle

So, got my new issue of Elle through the post yesterday (subscription = best ongoing present ever), & I'm so excited to read it!

 I really love the days when it comes in the post; partly because it's always nice to have something other than bills come for you! & also because I usually set aside time to read it - generally cover-to-cover, with a cup o' tea...maybe a sneaky biscuit. I guess it's just one of those rituals that everyone should have when they put aside time for themselves.

  Speaking of other people, it's the mother's birthday on Friday, & I have no idea what to get her! I'm a little low on funds at the moment, so I'm thinking something small...but what??
  Hoping a bit of a browse of the TimeOut website might give me ideas - shows/exhibitions, etc...she does like those kind of things. & I love giving gifts that are activities!
  For example, about this time last year Sammie-Jo & I took Helen to London Zoo for the day:

Helen at the train station before we told her where we were going...

Nearly at the Zoo!

Helen & SJ being 'great apes'!

 Helen & a Gorilla...

We then returned home for dinner & Boggle(!)

But failing to find something similar, hopefully a wander around John Lewis might do the trick!

Reading/Leeds

As a friend of mine pointed out;

"It is pretty much obvious now that Blink are gonna headline Reading Festival with them doing a Germany date 2 days before the festival, and some gap between 25th august and 4th september...hmm where are they going to be? Reading and Leeds of course!"

How exciting!! Now all I need is money, tickets & time off...easy(!)

*Edit: Oh, how right I was! Headlining Sunday at Reading! Boom!

Plugging...

Thought I'd share what I'm listening to at the moment;

This is Dan

& this is his music;  myspace.com/somewherebetweenhereandthestereo

In his words -

" "Somewhere Between Here and the Stereo" is acoustic singer/songwriter Dan Parkinson, originally from the small town of Andover.

 "Coming from a background of pop-punk and metal bands, I wanted to see what my music would sound like if it was just me in control. Turns out it sounds a bit folky.

  So I have an album of songs about things i know and care about, some are stories written purely about myself and some are written based on friends. I'm in the middle of writing for a new E.P at the moment, as well as recording with some of my friends." "

 So go check it out!

"Nude"

What I gather from reading fashion magazines/blogs/general browsing on the internet, 'nude' is thee colour to be wearing for spring/summer...

Eg. Chloe, S/S 2010
(side note - how the devil do you put an accent ` above an e?)

Which I can see being lovely on some people - mainly people with a tan!

However after seeing this photo;
(whowhatwear.com), and being of similar colouring to Leigh Lezark, it makes me a little curious...but having said that, she does looks a little on the naked side of dressed & I figure you generally have to be a celebrity to pull that off. However, I do like the way the nude colour makes the leather jacket look a slightly more spring-appropriate. This could be worth trying...

But for now, I'll stick to grey + sequins =

Ps. What on earth is the new facebook layout?! Not sure it'll get a like just yet.

CV...

Thought I'd go ahead & upload my CV on here - only just finished it, & haven't had a chance to get anyone else to read through it yet, so hopefully it's alright!
Fingers crossed & all that jazz...
(I've removed my address/phone number/etc - this is most of it though!)

 Work Experience:

DDB (Advertising agency – Paddington, London) I did work experience at DDB for two weeks. This involved helping out with the day-to-day running of the creative department, reviewing professional briefs as practice, and researching any obscure information that was needed.

Peter Cobb (PR Agency – Eastbourne, East Sussex) I was at Peter Cobb for two weeks as work experience. Whilst there I searched for & displayed press cuttings, wrote a couple of press releases, accompanied senior members of staff to a press launch and put forward ideas for a campaign the company was working on.

Moore Creative (Agency Simulation unit, undertaken at Southampton Solent) – A real client from Southampton set my group of five a live brief. I formed part of the account handling/planning team, while other members were the art directors/copywriters. I personally learned a lot, and the client was very enthusiastic about using our ideas and working with us again.

Oh, hi!

So, I guess the "about me" pretty much says the basics, so maybe a few details?
  I'm planning to move to London (south west) on March 31st - fingers crossed everything goes to plan! All I have to do is;
  • find someone to live in my room in Southampton (hopefully not a crazy).
  • Resign from my current job - I'm a barmaid at one of the local student pubs & love it - for the most part.
  • Find a new job!

  Although this is the exiting part, as I'm going to be looking /applying for a "real" job! This basically means not working in a shop/bar/etc, for minimum wage, but hopefully for something in the advertising/PR world!
  I actually can't wait. Eeeep!

The other thing I'm going to post about right now (partly to get to grips with this whole blogging-thing, so I'll keep it short), is a recent trip Dan & I took to Ikea - probably more fun than it sounds...

  So we set off for Ikea, which is over the other side of town, & Dan decided it would be funny to run away like a child...

We then took a slight detour to the Guildhall, where they have a fairly large model of the whole of Southampton which was pretty amazing! Of course, we had to find our house. Which, with the aid of Google Maps (only) took about 15 minutes...it was a big model!

  We then got back on track & headed to Ikea, where the best thing to do is to play house! I'm fairly sure everyone wants to when they go to somewhere like Ikea, secretly.

  After some house-play fun, we went for the 49p (I think. I know they were dirt cheap) hotdogs, which were yummy!

  Dan was a slight retard & got messy...

  After all the Ikea fun we went home, where Dan proceeded to find a stash of party poppers & came up with the genius idea of filling them with mayonnaise! Taking the string-y stuff out first, obviously;

I don't seem to have a picture of the end result, but it was pretty fun!

  So that's pretty much it for now, but I seem to be constantly thinking of/seeing things that I reckon would make for interesting blogging, so, as they say - watch this space!
